Born in Clun I grew up in Ludlow, Shropshire and was posted here by the Royal Air Force in December 1972 where I soon met and married a village girl. We have three sons that all went to school in Coltishall and Broadland High and three grandsons all living in Norfolk. I recently retired from Norfolk County Council where, as their Development and Operations Officer I was responsible for co-ordinating aspects of NCC’s responsibilities as Highways Authority on residential developments. I am a Member of the Tarmac Community Liaison Group. I am also the Co-ordinator for the Coltishall and Horstead Community Speed Watch and a regular church goer.
In March 2019, I retired from Norwich City Council after thirty six years service. My role was as a senior building surveyor. The portfolio included sixteen community centres, leisure centres, parks and open spaces. Together with City Hall and St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls. Also, supported the Council’s Events team.
For the last twenty years have been actively involved with Norfolk Army cadet force. Currently, employed as a sub unit commander covering North Norfolk and half of Broadland. With the rank of Major.
I am originally from Gorleston-on -Sea near Gt Yarmouth, I have a background in Geology and enjoyed a career managing offshore oil and gas projects, living with the family my wife, son and daughter in Italy, Singapore, UAE and Norway before settling in Aberdeenshire. Retiring back to Norfolk several years ago. With my wife Shaunagh we renovated and moved into a cottage opposite Horstead Mill in the summer of 2020.
